HOW DROPS WORK

PURCHASE A VOUCHER
  • Purchase a voucher by clicking on the button below.
  • First time participants make sure you purchase the Starter Kit voucher for $10 in addition to a Bucket Drop voucher.
  • Make sure you understand the two types of dropoff plans and how the dropoff program works.
  • Make sure the participating locations and hours listed below work for you. We cannot issue refunds after vouchers are purchased.
  • Vouchers are available for single drops ($6 per swap) and in bundles of 3, 5 and 10 drops ($5 per drop). Receive 11th drop free when you purchase a bundle of 10 drops.

PICK UP YOUR STARTER KIT
  • Go to any participating Bucket Drop location during the listed hours (see list below) to pick up your Starter Kit. Make sure you have a valid Starter Kit voucher before picking up your kit.
  • Your Starter Kit consists of 2 buckets with locking lids. One bucket is for scrap collection and the second is to hold a supply of mulch. Refills on mulch and bucket liners are provided free of cost.
  • We also provide complimentary compostable bucket liners. Remember that you are responsible for the cleanliness of your buckets. Buckets will accumulate residue over time and will need to be washed periodically. While it is totally optional to use liners we highly recommend them because they reduce the need for scrubbing. Feel free to use a liner of your choice if you don't like the liners we provide.

MAKE YOUR LASAGNA BUCKET
  • Start with a couple handfuls of mulch on the bottom of the bucket. This will absorb all the juices that trickle or leak to the bottom.
  • Next place the liner (if using) inside the bucket.
  • Now your bucket is ready for scraps. Add a 6-8 inch layer of kitchen scraps, then cover with a couple handfuls of mulch and repeat.
  • Keep making layers - we call them lasagna layers - alternating between foodscraps and mulch - until your bucket is full. You should end with mulch as the topmost layer when your bucket is full.

DROP OFF YOUR BUCKET
  • When your bucket is full bring it to any participating location during bucket drop hours.
  • We will add your scraps into our compost piles and give your bucket a rough rinse.
  • Take your bucket home and start over with the lasagna layers. Make sure you take a fresh liner and sufficient mulch with you each time you start over.
