Reduce pests and odors by following these steps:
1. 💡 Keep your scrap container shut tight.
2. 💡 Don't keep scraps inside your kitchen for more than a day. Transfer scraps into a larger container placed outside - preferably in your yard or patio.
3. 💡 Layer your scraps with mulch, ash or charcoal. Mulch is available at all Food2Soil dropoff hubs.
4.💡  Freeze your scraps if you aren't able to drop them off every week.
5. 💡 Place your bucket in a shallow pool of water to get rid of ants.

Twisty ties, produce stickers, rubberbands, gloves and all types of  produce bags (plastic/ biodegradable/ compostable) are contaminants and need to be discarded.

Thankyou for removing these items from your scraps so they don't get into the compost buckets, carts and piles.

At Food2Soil we treat all bags (with the exception of paper bags) like trash. This includes plastic bags and the so called biodegradable and compostable bags which disintegrate into tiny shreds of thingamajigs which are neither plastic nor plant.

We try our best to get these out when we are building the piles...breaking the bags open to empty the scraps and then discarding the bags in the garbage bin. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Please save yourself money and save us time by not using them. All Food2Soil dropoff hubs are bag-free. Empty your scraps into the carts and then cover your scraps with the biofilter material provided at every hub.
