dropoff program

HOW SUBSCRIPTIONS WORK

CREATE A SUBSCRIPTION
  • Make sure you understand the two types of dropoff plans and how the dropoff program works. We cannot issue refunds once subscriptions have gone through.
  • Find a conveniently located dropoff hub from the list below. This will be your primary dropoff hub.
  • Click Subscribe below the selected dropoff hub to create a member profile and pay your membership dues of $45 per quarter ($15 per month, billed quarterly).

GO TO ROT ON
  • Look for an email (sometimes ends up in your spam folder) from info@food2soil.net with a link to the ROT ON app.
  • Register using the same email address you used to create your subscription. You will receive a one time password the first time you try to access ROT ON.
  • Once you are in the app, go to 'Dropoff Locations'. Select your primary hub and go to the detail page which has all the information you need to start dropping off your scraps including exact address of the hub, dropoff hours and cart lock codes.
  • ROT ON has many great features. Use it to manage your subscription, avail of member benefits and keep track of your waste footprint. We recommend saving it to your homescreen.

START COLLECTING SCRAPS
  • Help yourself to a scrap collection bucket from the cart labelled 'New Member Buckets' at your dropoff hub. Feel free to use your own scrap collection container if you don't like the bucket we provide.
  • Designate a bowl, jar or tupperware to collect kitchen scraps through the day. Keep this receptacle in a place that is easily accessible - on the kitchen counter or under the sink are great choices.
  • At the end of the day empty these scraps into the bucket you received from Food2Soil. We recommend placing this bucket outside - on the patio, backyard or in the garage. You can also freeze the scraps if you don't have room for a bucket outside.

DROFF YOUR SCRAPS
  • Bring your bucket of scraps to the dropoff hub at least once every week.
  • Empty the scraps in the cart labeled 'Vegetative Food Scraps Only'.
  • For dropoffs that are 'Bagged Scraps Only'  place the entire bag in the cart. Make sure your bag is cinched closed. Please reuse bags that you already might have - bread bags, produce bags, mail order packaging bags. You can use compostable bags but please note we do not compost those bags.
  • For dropoffs that are 'Bag Free', empty the scraps from your container into our cart. Cover with the mulch from the adjacent cart.
  • Remember that you are responsible for the cleanliness of your buckets. Buckets will accumulate residue over time and will need to be washed periodically. We recommend using paper or plastic liners to reduce the need for scrubbing. Dropoff hubs are not equipped with rinse stations.
