subscription based
dropoff program

dropoff your scraps anytime, anywhere

HOW SUBSCRIPTIONS WORK

CREATE A SUBSCRIPTION
Subscription can be cancelled through the member portal before each quarterly renewal. Refunds will not be issued once subscription has been renewed. Subscriptions are renewed in advance on a quarterly basis. You can email us for assistance with your subscription before your renewal is due.
  • Make sure you understand the two types of dropoff plans and how the dropoff program works. We cannot issue refunds once subscriptions have gone through.
  • Find a conveniently located dropoff hub from the list below. This will be your primary dropoff hub.
  • Click Subscribe below the selected dropoff hub to create a member profile and pay your membership dues of $45 per quarter ($15 per month, billed quarterly).
  • You can add on a scrap collection bucket for an optional charge of $10 when you create a subscription. Purchasing the bucket from us is optional. You can always use a container of your choice. Our containers have a screw on locking lid, are 5 gallons in size and are resourced after one time use from local companies.

ADD-ON A SCRAP COLLECTION CONTAINER
Picture
  • You can add-on a scrap collection bucket for an optional charge of $15 when you create a subscription. Purchasing the bucket from us is optional. You can always use a container of your choice.
  • Our containers have a screw on locking lid, are between 4 and 5 gallons in size and are resourced from local companies after one time use.
  • Allow 5-7 business days for your scrap collection bucket to arrive at your primary dropoff hub. The bucket will have your name on it. We will send you an email when it is ready for pickup.

GO TO ROT ON - AN APP FOR YOUR SCRAPS
Picture
  • Look for an email (sometimes ends up in your spam folder) from info@food2soil.net with a link to the ROT ON app.
  • Register using the same email address you used to create your subscription. You will receive a one time password the first time you try to access ROT ON.
  • Once you are in the app, go to 'Dropoff Locations'. Select your primary hub and go to the detail page which has all the information you need to start dropping off your scraps including exact address of the hub, dropoff hours and cart lock codes.
  • ROT ON has many great features. Use it to manage your subscription, avail of member benefits and keep track of your waste footprint. We recommend saving it to your homescreen.

START COLLECTING SCRAPS
  • Designate a bowl, jar or tupperware to collect kitchen scraps through the day. Keep this receptacle in a place that is easily accessible - on the kitchen counter or under the sink are great choices.
  • At the end of the day empty these scraps into your Food2Soil bucket or any other container of your choice. We recommend placing this bucket/container outside - on the patio, backyard or in the garage. You can also freeze the scraps if you don't have room for a bucket outside.

DROP OFF YOUR SCRAPS
  • Bring your bucket of scraps to the dropoff hub at least once every week.
  • Empty the scraps in the cart labeled 'Vegetative Food Scraps Only'.
  • Empty the scraps from your container into our cart.
  • Cover your scraps completely with a few generous scoopfuls of mulch from the adjacent cart.
  • Covering your scraps with mulch prevents odors and reduces the incidence of critters and fruit flies nesting inside the carts. It provides a pleasant dropoff experience to the person who comes after you, so thankyou for being courteous!
  • Remember that you are responsible for the cleanliness of your collection pails/buckets. Buckets will accumulate residue over time and will need to be washed periodically. We recommend using paper or plastic liners to reduce the need for scrubbing. Dropoff hubs are not equipped with rinse stations.
